May the Fur be With You

Where did you come from? Tell us your story.

The best day of my life was when Andrea from Athens Canine Rescue came and picked me up from The Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter. I don’t like to talk about my life before that. Athens Canine Rescue took me in, cleaned me up and fed me well. They also gave me some foster parents who loved me very much. After a few homes that I didn’t love, they introduced me to my Mom Courtney and my big sister Grayce Mae. And I couldn’t be happier.

What is your biggest fear?

Don’t tell anyone, but surprising noises and falling objects startle me. But I am pretty brave when it comes to protecting my mom. I’ve got a good bark.

What is your fondest memory?

Meeting my mom and Grayce Mae last October.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

When my mom cooks she tosses bits of vegetables to me since I love them so much. But I can never catch them, and sometimes even duck out of the way.

What are you most proud of?

Everyone tells me I’m very handsome.

What is your favorite toy, and why.

I have this moose that I stole from my buddy Toccoa. I killed all the squeakers immediately, but I still like it because Toccoa is an 80 pound Doberman, and I got his toy!!

If you could chase anything, what would it be?

I love to chase any critter that tries to sneak into my backyard.

What’s your favorite food or treat?

I love all food and all treats. I love vegetables and peanut butter and any other people food I can get my paws on.

Do you wear clothes? If so, what’s your favorite outfit.

I have a very snuggly warm fleece that I get to wear when it’s cold outside.

Are you named after anyone? How did you get your name?

My mom isn’t sure who named me, but I’ve been Brutus for as long as I can remember, so she didn’t change it. But she does call me Brutie a lot.

What is the weirdest object found destroyed in your home that you left for your human?

Mom left a bag of kale where I could reach it. I ate some of it, and shredded the rest and left it all over the kitchen.

Can you do any tricks, if so, what?

I sit and lie down. And I can attack anyone with kisses and make them laugh – that’s a trick, right?

What’s your idea of happiness?

I love a great lawn. I have favorite ones all around my neighborhood, and roll on them when we walk by. There’s nothing like a good happy dog roll on a soft lawn.

What is your present state of mind.

I’m just sitting here, waiting for mom to offer dinner or a walk. I’m always ready.

Whats your favorite motto or quote?

“Are you hungry?”

Do you have any major distinguishing characteristics, if so what are they?

My white stripe from my forehead all the way down my belly. It’s got little black spots on it. I also have a tiny bit of white on the tip of all four of my paws.

Anything else you’d like to tell us, or add any new questions you think people would like to know about you??

I just want to make sure everyone knows about how awesome all dog rescues are, and Athens Canine Rescue in particular. I’m so lucky.
